Sherena's Genies!

The picture of the Little Genie's and I was a performance they did (their first big performance) at the Desert Inn in Canton ,Ohio. All three girls are 9 years old.
Their families came along with friends and everyone had a great time!
I have danced at the Desert Inn since I was 9 and thought it would be alot of fun to add them to the show.

Class photos from Leila Farid's workshops (sponsored by Amina) this weekend in San Francisco.
Workshops were done as a benefit for the Leila's musicians. Because of the Jan 25 revolution, the tourists are gone, and the economy is on hold.

$1,200 was raised for the Musician's Benefit.

$100 for 12 musicians= 600 Egyptain pounds. This should buy about a months worth of food for the most needy and their families.
Some of the musicians that will benefit from this event are interviewed in Leila's recent article here.

Marliza Pons
Interview with Marliza Pons here

"I'm sad to say that Marliza Pons has passed.. Marliza and I have been friends for many years. We met on the set of "Alexander the Great" in 1963, I don't believe she was belly dancing yet. We became friends and I found out she had a son the same age as mine and her sister-in-law Joni took care of him. When the film ended my agent had a dancing job for me in Oahu I asked Marliza if she would like to join me in the show and bring her son and her sister-in-law. I really wanted my son to come with me. It was perfect, we had both our children with us and Joni who was a wonderful caretaker. We had a great time together. Joni remained with me many years and took care of my boys while I was a dancer. I'm so sad to see her pass. I thought you would like to know. Joni also passed away tonight. "
