Announcement to our dance friends, Glenn Schneider, domestic partner to Bert Balladine, passed away this morning, Sunday, July 31, 2010, after a short illness. He joined his beloved Bert and also dogs- Angels, Rupert & Guapo. He was a ex-ballet dancer, a lover of all animals, superb chef, well-read, a highly entertaining and interesting man. I will miss him and his great story telling. Another era is gone. There will be no funeral. ~Amaya

"I've just attached one of me dancing at Ahlan wa Sahlan with Safaa Farid's (Leila of Cairo's husband) band and the one of me and `Azza Sherif during that same performance. These photos are from my performance at one of the nightly Summer Shows (open stage nights) during Ahlan Wa Sahlan. I did an "old style" Saidi-style number with a cane and zills. During the zills part, Azza Sherif came up on stage (do I look surprised enough in the pic?), bumped me with her hip, posed with me for a picture to be taken. I was flabbergasted!!!! "
