Maia

Maia teaches and performs Oriental Dance in the South San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley area. She has been dancing since she was four years old, with an extensive background at university level in Western dance forms (ballet, jazz, modern and dance for musical theater). She has also studied Kathak (Northern Indian) dance. Since starting Oriental Dance lessons with Alcina in 1996, she has attended workshops and seminars with many of the Oriental Dance's leading lights, encompassing a broad range of regional, ethnic and personal styles and specialties. Through her daily devotion to dance practice, her strong background in technique and her continued exploration of Oriental Dance in all its forms, she has developed a distinctive, heart-felt style.

Maia dances regularly at two area restaurants, Kan Zeman and Menara, and at selected private events.
