Duane Stevens

Duane Stevens is a Bay Area photographer based in San Jose. For several years Duane served as a Volunteer photographer at the annual Desert Dance Festival held in San Jose; He has contributed several of his photographs to the Book “San Jose: City with a Past”, as well as a exhibit sponsored by the San Jose Historical Museum.

Photographically, Duane has shot a wide range of subjects; from the wide-open space of the desert southwest, to the jungles of Malaysia, to the streets of Paris. The firefighter, the dancer, high-school jock, and home-coming queen all have been Duane’s subjects. His current work has taken on a more personal tone, focusing on capturing the beauty in both the posed portrait, as well as the flowing motions of the dance.

Duane took up photography at an early age, witnessing his father and uncle’s interest in auto racing photography in California’s San Joaquin Valley. In his teens he did freelance photojournalism work, covering local school sports and a little hard-news, including the apprehension of an alleged murderer.

From his work in high technology industries, Duane has held numerous certifications in computer systems. He currently is certified in Project Management, and has previously held a certification in Production and Inventory Management.

Duane, a native Californian, lives in San Jose with his wife Karen (Adira), and together they have two adult children.
