Her shows can be seen there 4 to 7 nights a week. www.casbahrestaurant.com She has been performing and teaching belly dance since 1987. She began dancing with Adnan Sarhan's Sufi students in New York City in 1985. These included Badia, Eva Cernik, and Dunya. Much of her basic technique came from 4 years private study and troupe work with Zhaleh Ferreshteh and Mirage Dancers. She has continued to study dance meditation intensively with Dunya, and has worked with many other teachers over the years. Layla's style is primarily Cabaret Belly Dance, with Egyptian and Turkish influence.

Layla teaches classes in Belly Dance technique and Dance Meditation. She uses a non verbal follow me approach for meditative workouts, and she breaks down basic techniques for beginners verbally and through movement. Classes may be a mixture of mediative and technical work, or predominantly one or the other. She teaches in her home studio in Savannah, Georgia, on Sunday afternoons from 3pm till 4:30pm, and also at 12 noon once a week on Tuesday or Wednesday at the YMCA on Habersham Street in Savannah. She offers private classes by appointment. She teaches all levels from "Pre - Beginners" to advanced private coaching.
