The Gilded Serpent presents...

Samira

Samira, a lifelong student of dance and a born entertainer, has been delighting audiences for over twenty years. Great artists both in the U.S. and abroad inspire her with the depth and beauty of belly dance. Her Egyptian cabaret style earned two first place competition finishes in 2005, and she was also the recipient of the “People’s Choice” Headliner award at the East Coast Belly Dance Classic.

Samira is a seasoned restaurant and event performer in Virginia, where Middle Eastern audience members say she dances with a native sensibility. Her presentation for local Arab-American celebrities resulted in an invitation to dance for the Sons & Daughters of Lebanon.

A dancer in large-scale stage productions since the age of three, Samira has an extensive background in classical ballet and other Western dance styles. She brings knowledge and experience in stage management and presentation to her Middle Eastern choreography. She is noted for her use of space and innovative combinations.

As an instructor, Samira focuses on solid foundational technique. Her goal is to provide students with fundamental concepts they can use to build their own unique style. Whether for physical fitness, fun or performance, she is delighted to see students find self-confidence and joy through self-expression. Her continuing education as an artist in this beautiful style comes from her fellow dancers, students, and audiences as part of the ongoing dialogue of this living dance.
