The Gilded Serpent presents...

Monet

Monet's dance training began at the  age 5 with ballet, tap and jazz and continued throughout high school and college. She has trained with some of the most well known and respected jazz and tap dancers of our time. She began teaching while still in high school.

Monet spent two years as head coach and choreographer for a National Champion cheer and dance squad. She discovered Middle Eastern dance 12 years ago and quickly fell in love with the art form as well as the supportive environment she encountered. She has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to study Middle Eastern dance from many of the top teachers in the world. She has also studied Hip-Hop, Persian, Flamenco, Hula and several forms of Indian dance including Kathak and Baratanatyum.

Currently, Monet is the producer of Pop Raqs a non traditional belly dance show in Philadelphia presently in its 7th season. She is also the artistic director and choreographer for the Pop Raqs Dance Ensemble. Pop Raqs fuses the traditional with the non traditional and has featured some of the area's top dancers. Her goal is to provide an outlet for dancers who love tradition but want to experiment with music and as well as different dance styles as well.

By day, Monet is a Training Manager for a large travel management company. She has a love for animals and volunteers frequently for several animal organizations. She also designs jewelry.
