Kristina Nekyia

Kristina is a belly dancer, circus contortionist, showgrrrl, fire eater, and writer, devoted to the technicolor world of show. She performs across the country in nightclubs, festivals, corporate events, circuses, theatrical productions, and intimate cabarets.

Trained in American Tribal and Cabaret, she performs both belly dance and fusion styles. In 2005 she was the Hips of Fury Ultimate Soloist, and she has been featured in six internationally distributed belly dance videos. In 2008 she debuted a belly dance contortion fire duet with world-famous contortionist Serchmaa Byamba. In 2009 she competed for the title of Queen of Burlesque in Las Vegas with a belly dance contortion burlesque act. She has appeared with The Crucible, Rachid Taha, Margaret Cho, Velocity Circus, Earth Circus, Vau de Vire Society, Naked Rhythm, Hot Pink Feathers Burlesque, Latin Cabaret Productions, and Ultra Gypsy Dance Theater. She has also been featured in a short film with David Arquette and a commercial with Rob Thomas.

As a choreographer Kristina has created dance, fire, aerial, and contortion pieces for musical acts and theatrical productions. She directed her own company, The Nekyia, composed of six gorgeous, talented dancer-circus Showgrrrls from 2005-2009. As a teacher she conducts workshops in stretching for dancers, belly dance, and the emotions of performance, and she teaches fire eating classes at The Crucible.
