Pam Sloane
AKA Pam Hirt
Pam Sloane danced professionally as "Kawakib" in the San Francisco Bay Area belly dance community during the 1970s. She appeared solo in local clubs and party venues, and with Middle Eastern dance groups at universities, community centers and various festive gatherings. Originally a high school English teacher, Pam took a decade off to serve as a staff writer for the publication "Habibi" and to perform ethnic dance. Pam studied belly dance intensively with Amina in the Bay Area, and in Detroit with Mediha - the Syrian Beduoin princess who shared the stage with Tahia Carioca. Currently Pam is a writer and artist living in San Francisco.
